Vegan Chocolate Sweet Rolls
Ingredients
- 2 1/2 cup self rising flour + more for dusting organic if possible
- 3 tbsp granulated sweetener organic if possible
- 2 tbsp vegan butter melted
- 1 cup almond milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Filling
- 3 tbsp vegan butter
- 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips vegan
Glaze
- 3/4 cup powdered sugar sifted
- 1 1/2 tbsp almond milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Optional
- 3 tbsp vegan dark chocolate melted for drizzling
Instructions
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 F and prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, stir together the flour and sweetener. In another bowl, stir together the melted butter, almond milk and vanilla. Add the wet ingredients to the dry and use a rubber spatula to stir until a dough forms. Transfer the dough to a clean floured surface and knead (adding flour as needed) until dough is smooth. Don’t over knead.
- Dust a rolling pin with flour and roll dough into a rectangle about 1/4 inch in thickness.
Filling
- Place the filling ingredients into a small pot over low heat and stir until smooth. Spread the chocolate in an even layer over the dough leaving about a half inch at the edges. Fold the dough 2/3 length wise and then fold the other side over like an envelope. Slice into 1" strips. Twist strip and then fold up (see photos above). Place on the baking sheet. Repeat. Brush with melted butter. Bake for 18-20 minutes. Don't over bake or the rolls will be hard.
- Stir glaze ingredients together and drizzle over warm buns. Drizzle with melted chocolate if desired.

Thank you for this recipe. It was delicious! It was quite easy to make but at one point very messy with all the chocolate everywhere 😛 I think I’m going to make this for Christmas for my family but then with some pre-bought dough to speed up the process. Thanks again!
Hi, Yes it’s quite messy but totally worth it. I found that have everything ready to go before I start twisting them helps. So I only have to wash my hands once lol. Thanks for trying this recipe!

This recipe was SO easy to make and it tasted phenomenal. The ingredients are also super simple which I love! If you want the rolls to look pretty, you have to be careful with getting chocolate everywhere but that’s not too bad of a thing to have to worry about 🙂 You wont regret making these!!
Hi Calli,
I’m so happy to hear that these turned out so well for you and that you enjoyed them so much! YAY! The chocolate is a bit messy and I agree, not a bad thing to worry about. Thanks for the great feedback 🙂
Loved these! So easy to make! The only issue I had was that my chocolate filling was really runny but that’s likely because I used 75g chopped dark chocolate and I’m not sure if it was enough, so my filling squished out a lot when I cut them. The taste was amazing though, I’ll definitely be making the cinnamon roll version next!
Yay! I’m so happy you liked it! The chocolate is definitely messy and totally normal for it to run out when you slice it. Thanks for taking the time to leave me a comment 🙂
Omg these were amazing! First tome making my own dough and was surprised how easy it was. So so so delicious! Thank you for the recipe!
Hi Amy,
This dough is so perfect and easy (especially when you don’t have yeast or time for it). I’m so glad you enjoyed them. Thank you for taking the time to let me know how they turned out!

Hi there!
Going to try these for Easter brunch this weekend. Any suggestions for storing?
Or is it best to make them on the day of devouring these sweet treats?
Hi!
I would suggest making them as close to serving as you can. They taste best when they are fresh 🙂
Recipe didn’t work at all. They didn’t bake all the way through even after 3x the recommended time, the dough was way too sticky even with near endless flour-ing, and they tasted awful. A complete waste of time and money.
I’m sorry you are having trouble with this but perhaps it’s your oven? This recipe works for me every time and if you read the comments, it works for everyone else too.
This is an absolutely fantastic recipe! It was quick and easy and so delicious! I highly recommend giving these a go! 🙌
YAY! This makes me so happy to hear!
Hey! Was wondering if you’ve tried to make these gluten free or not.
Hi,
I have and it didn’t work out well. Still working on a the gluten free version!
Furious that I didn’t find this recipe sooner! They are phenomenal and incredibly easy to make and perfect the next day warmed up too.
I will definitely be making them again. Thanks 🙂 x
Makes me so happy to hear! 🙂
