Deliciously healthy, vegan brownies that are swirled with creamy peanut butter and loaded with Oreo cookies! These insanely delicious Oreo brownies are extra fudgy, made vegan, gluten-free and overall healthy!
Lets talk about Oreos [and you guys this is not an ad…I just really love Oreos but Nabisco if you are reading, I WOULD LOVE TO PARTNER ;)]. First of all, did you know Oreos are suitable for vegans? That’s right! They are completely free from animal products, however, if you are strict vegan, I have read that they may or may not have come in contact with milk. So that’s something to keep in mind. Oreos are not gluten-free though so if you are looking to make a gluten-free version of these brownies, be sure to use Glutinos cookies or your favorite gluten-free brand.
When I first set out to make these brownies, I had no intention of adding a sweet and creamy swirl of peanut butter but as I was nearing the end and about to toss these bad boys into the oven, I impulsively dropped a few tablespoons of peanut butter over the batter and swirled it around before finishing these brownies with mini Oreo thins. AND I REGRET NOTHING! These brownies are literally the best I’ve ever had! The fudge factor on these brownies are beyond compare!

Fudgy Oreo Vegan Brownies with Peanut Butter Swirl
Ingredients
for the brownies
- 1/4 c natural peanut butter
- 2 tbsp maple syrup
- 100g dairy-free dark chocolate
- 2 tbsp coconut oil, melted
- 2 flax eggs (2 tbsp flax meal + 6 tbsp water)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 3/4 c almond flour
- 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/8 tsp sea salt
for the topping
- 10 mini Oreos, in pieces *use gluten-free cookies if necessary
- 3 tbsp natural peanut butter
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 F and prepare a 6x6 inch pan with parchment paper both ways and leave an overhang for easy removal.
- First, prepare the flax egg by stirring together flax meal and water and letting sit for 10 minutes.
- Next, in a microwave safe bowl, melt the chocolate and peanut butter together. Stir in the maple syrup, coconut oil and vanilla and stir until smooth.
- In a large mixing bowl, stir together the almond flour, cocoa powder, salt and baking soda. Add in the chocolate mixture and flax egg and stir until a thick batter forms. Transfer batter to the prepared pan.
- Next, drop dollops of peanut butter over the batter and use a knife to swirl them together. Top with Oreo pieces and bake for 14-16 minutes. Do not over bake. The brownies will still be soft when you take them out of the oven but that's okay. Let cool completely at room temperature then chill for 1 hour before cutting into squares and serving. ENJOY!
I love baking and making goodies. Currently trying this recipe with a little twist. Hopefully it works out! Fingers crossed!
What’s your twist?? I can’t wait to hear how it turns out! 🙂
Hey, what could i use instead of flax egg? Will applesauce do?
Hi, I haven’t tried this recipe without the flax egg but bc they’re brownies, I’m sure applesauce will work just fine! Use about 3 tablespoons. Let me know how it turns out 🙂
Can I freeze these? Yum
Oh yes, I’m sure! I freeze just about everything I make!
