This eggless French toast recipe is incredibly delicious and satisfying. It’s exactly what every Sunday morning needs. I topped mine with toasted almonds for little added crunch and then finished them with maple syrup and powdered sugar.
I encourage you to top yours with your favorite fresh fruits or vegan yogurt!
I made this recipe using sourdough bread which I highly recommend because yum! But if you don’t have sourdough on hand, any bread will work.
So here’s what you need to make this vegan French toast recipe…
- almond milk or any plant based milk
- flax meal
- maple syrup (also more for topping)
- vanilla extract
- cinnamon
- sea salt
- sourdough bread or bread of choice (baguettes work great too!)
Toppings
- toasted slivered almonds
- powdered sugar
- maple syrup
- fruit of choice

Sourdough Vegan French Toast with Toasted Almonds
Ingredients
- 2 tbsp ground flax meal
- 1 cup almond milk or plant milk of choice
- 2 tbsp maple syrup
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 6-8 slices sourdough bread
toppings
- toasted slivered almonds
- maple syrup
- powdered sugar
Instructions
- Whisk together the flax meal, milk, maple syrup, vanilla, cinnamon and salt in a shallow bowl. Cover and chill for 10 minutes.
- Prepare a skillet with non-stick spray and turn on medium-low heat. Take a slice of bread and submerge it in the mixture, let the excess drip off and then place into the hot skillet. Cook each side of the bread for 2-3 mintues or until golden brown. Repeat until you have used all the bread and mixture.
- Serve french toast with toasted slivered almonds, maple syrup and powdered sugar. ENJOY!
